Minister, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said this was in line with the main goal of the ministry as the premier provider of TVET and to ensure that graduates would suit the industry requirements.

“Industry players can tell the university or polytechnic what they want, how much is needed, what curriculum (and) when they want it. You tell us what you want, this is to make sure that graduates will meet the industry requirements,” he said.

Idris said this after witnessing the signing ceremony of collaboration certificate between Polytechnic Education Department and Trans Resources Corporation Sdn Bhd (TRC) at the Sungai Buloh MRT Depot here today.

Also present were TRC group managing director Tan Sri Sufri Mohd Zin and Polytechnic Education Department director-general Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Ismail Abd Aziz.

Through the collaboration, over 30 polytechnic students will undergo industrial training and work-based learning programme at TRC a year, for the period of five years.

On the 2018 Budget, Idris said he welcomed the allocation given to TVET.

A sum of RM4.9 billion has been allocated to implement the TVET Malaysia Masterplan. The amount increased by RM300 million as compared to RM4.6 billion allocated in the 2017 Budget.
